        That's the delightful power of Google, and I think there's
        nothing really wrong with that, just isn't practical to know
        everything outright when the index pages will do.

        I tried googling for things like "Why you shouldn't use a USB
        bridge" and some variants but didn't find anything specific
        yet, so I'll wait for you to find your source and then I'll
        take a read.

        Oh for certain, if it's a "last stop before the bin" situation,
        then by all means.  I find getting it spun up ASAP as its
        removed helps.  A chest freezer with the HDD/cables located inside 
        and just slipping out under the lid seal is a great way to
        bypass the issues.
