It has, many thanks for that. I also have found that overall the read
performance seems to be improved, especially compared to the rate that 1.14 was
achieving.

Post scan analysis to determine if the drive is in a prefailure mode
and thus should be replaced. A situation that comes up occasionally here is
that clients will have issues on their system which I would normally attribute
to a failing hard-drive, but ddrescue won't reveal an absolute failure (bad
sector read), but a few weeks later the drive will commence showing failures
(I presume because the relocation table has run out of space on the drive and
bad sectors will now show).
Still, since the -a facility now performs as hoped I might just be able
to use that instead.
