I am pleased to announce the release of GNU ddrescue 1.12.

GNU ddrescue is a data recovery tool.

The homepage is at http://www.gnu.org/software/ddrescue/ddrescue.html.

The sources can be downloaded from http://ftpmirror.gnu.org/ddrescue/ or from your favorite GNU mirror.

This version is also available in lzip format. If your distro doesn't yet distribute the lzip program, you can download it from http://www.nongnu.org/lzip/lzip.html

The md5sums are:
b3d8a9a9098b87939fba05a45848bd8d ddrescue-1.12.tar.gz
eb574e377291e57edeff222161061654 ddrescue-1.12.tar.lz

This release is also GPG signed. You can download the signature by
appending ".sig" to the URL.

Changes in version 1.12:

* The destination file is now created with write permission for all if umask allows it.

* Files are now open in binary mode in non-POSIX platforms defining the O_BINARY macro.

  * Lintian warnings in Debian about man pages have been fixed.

  * The "COPYING" file is no more used as data for testing.

Please send bug reports and suggestions to address@hidden
