DDD 3.2.1 (sparc-sun-solaris2.8) gets `Segmentation Fault' signal

I am debugging an application.
  I have an executable which is not in the debugging mode.So, probably
the debugging -g is not there.
 What I want is to debug my .so 's.
 I am working on sunos 2.8,using gcc 2.9.92 and gdb version is 5.0.
 Please tell me how I should proceed with the same.
 There is an option -s for shared object (.so) debugging
 in xdb but is seems it isn't true for gdb also.
