SOCKS Support

hi,

I just found around a year ago a discussion on this list surrounding SOCKS
support.

I've been working in different projects to improve SOCKS support, recently
in Mozilla, PuTTY, XChat and Gaim.

Does CVS still depend on the non-free Sockscap/runsocks method for
supporting SOCKS? And if so, do you want this fixed so that CVS can do
SOCKS freely and properly?

(It is very difficult to implement SOCKS and retain compatibility with the
BSD socket API. In many places, they are essentially incompatible.
Native implementations don't have these issues.)
