cvs update with flaws in recursive directory search

Hi,

cvs update seems to have with flaws in recursive directory search.

Given the path ..../Libs/coin3D/include/...
If I execute
/usr/bin/cvs -z3 update -d -A -P -D "2004-05-26 05:00 GMT"
with working dir
..../Libs/coin3D the update succeeds without complains
I can do this repeatedly.
If I execute afterwards the same command with working dir
..../Libs the update fails with lots of messages like:
> C coin3D/include/Inventor/nodes/SoTranslation.h
> cvs update: move away coin3D/include/Inventor/nodes/SoTransparencyType.h;
> it is in the way

I get the same behavior with
/usr/bin/cvs update -P -D "2004-05-26 05:00 GMT"
which is the command WinCVS assembles when updating the same dir.

The directory has recently received its first set of updates, so many files
now have two versions (1.1.1.1 and 1.2). I did not have this problem when
there was only a single version.

The problem only occurs on my linux box. The windows box is fine. In
windows I use WinCVS with the second syntax for the update command. No
matter where in the path I start the update, it succeeds.

As you are still reading :), here are the specifics of the linux
environment:

> uname -a
Linux bezier.cc.nih.gov 2.4.21-0.13mdkenterprise #1 SMP Fri Mar 14 14:40:17
EST 2003 i686 unknown unknown GNU/Linux

> cvs --version
Concurrent Versions System (CVS) 1.11.5 (client/server)

> cat CVS/Root
:pserver:userName@my.linux.box/raid/cvsrepo

is there a way to fix this?

Any help is appreciated
-Ingmar
