Synopsis: problem setting pserver
Severity: serious
Priority: low
Category: cvs-1.10.6-2.1krb5
Class: support
Release: cvs-1.10.6
Environment:
System: Linux monteverdi.ens.fr 2.2.17-21mdk #1 Thu Oct 5 13:16:08 CEST 2000
i686 unknown
Architecture: i686

Description:
When trying to commit a file using pserver, it fails giving the
following
message:
azzalini@ntm ~/SW_CODE/F90 $ cvs -d
:pserver:azzalini@monteverdi.ens.fr:/safe/CVS/REPOSITORY commit
cvs commit: Examining .
? errors
? COMPILE
cvs [server aborted]: "commit" requires write access to the repository
cvs commit: saving log message in /tmp/cvsqoIHDI

This does not happens to other users whose repository is different from the one
above. However, all the configurations files and access permission are
indentical and I can at least log in. Trying to get through, I've even set all
the permissions to 666 (777 for directories) for any file in the repository and
in the lockfile
directory. No way !

I've always had troubles setting cvs with pserver. Isn't there an allready
configured RPM or an helper to do it easily ? To get up to the point I am now
(at least some users can sometime use cvs with pserver), I've had to find a
documentation dealing with aspects that are not covered by the cvs manual. This
forces me not to use CVS for long times and I feel my source files in real
danger.

Thank you for any info.
