When configuring coreutils, you have to explicitly request that the su
utility be built and installed.  It is not installed by default.  The
instructions you were previously given should be adequate:

>> $ wget http://ftpmirror.gnu.org/coreutils/coreutils-8.4.tar.xz
>> $ tar xJvf coreutils-8.4.tar.xz
>> $ cd coreutils-8.4
>> $ ./configure --enable-install-program
>> $ make
>> $ make install

If that was not enough help for you, then we need more information about
what you tried and what doesn't seem to be working, before we can figure
out how to help you further.  Your report is too vague for me to guess
what you did or did not do.
