On one hand, I'm tempted to say if the user uses -f with a format string
containing no % directive at all, then maybe they need to look at --help
output, so maybe calling "usage" would be good. On the other hand, I
have personally wanted to use seq with a format string containing *no*
% directive (hence the TODO item to consider allowing that).
