This would be an incompatible change, albeit one that I thinks make
sense, if only to be compatible with Solaris etc.
Mike, what has been the experience with this patch on Gentoo? You
mentioned that you would give it a spin. I looked for commentary on
the subject by using Google, but came up dry.
Jim, are we still in bugfix-only mode on the main branch?
