FWIW, building with gcc-3.4.3 on a local filesystem causes all tests
to pass.

PS.  Building coreutils-5.3.0 with Solars cc version 4.2 results in
the following test failures:

FAIL: nl
FAIL: printf
FAIL: x8
FAIL: pr-tests
FAIL: uniq-tests

More data as it becomes available.
