No, never heard of O_NOACCESS. But that's what I want, yes.

Sorry, no. I wouldn't be surprised if you could do it with GNU/Hurd
or Solaris, both of which let you do fairly funky things with
directories (e.g., open a file whose name is relative to another
directory that you have the file descriptor to), but I don't know how
to do it myself.
