If you are considering to use another tool like rsync to complete the task,
a better approach is to use rsync from the beginning.
To install and configure an additional  tool, like rsync,  just to copy
files between directories, partitions or devices  into the same machine
doesn't make sense for many users, because cp is there !

Yes, it is an option. But with CP there it is a unnecessary workload.

Yes, I have used rsync but when copying files through the network.
