Thank you for the report.
However, I suspect that there's a problem with gcc's
header files on your system. stddef.h should define size_t.
Here's a little test you can run.
It creates a 2-line file and tries to compile it,
first with gcc, then with cc. Both should work.
cat <<EOF > k.c
#include <stddef.h>
size_t n;
EOF
gcc -c k.c
cc -c k.c
