Now I get this from configure:

  checking for Java virtual machine... gij
  configure: WARNING: unknown target-version , please update gt_JAVACOMP macro
  checking for Java compiler... no
  checking for Java virtual machine... (cached) (cached) gij

This is in tests/atlocal:

  # Empty if no javac was found
  CONF_JAVAC=''

  # Empty if no Java VM was found
  CONF_JAVA='gij'

By the way, the copyright date in data/Makefile.am needs updating also.
