Right, this is why you do not want it, as one may use C++ together with .h
or no extension at all (following the naming of the C++ standard headers,
then).

My compiler has defaults for C++ .cc, .cp, .cpp, .c++ file extensions, but
headers use .h or no extension.

So there is probably quite of a jumble out there.

But _why_ do you think it is important? -- Besides a longing for it, do you
have any factual basis for this wish?

I mean, the input language is the same, the Yacc grammar language, so that
cannot motivate .yxx input file extensions.
