But, making the leapin thought that has been occurring routinely in the
HR space overat least the last five years, seems to be beyond them.
Certainly they can see the benefits of creating a shared
operation, thereby reducingFTEs and costs - andimproving reporting,
compliance and standards.
There are many indeed who think that standards willnever become the
norm.
Theargument I gave last week stillstands.

I'm notsure of the efficacy of these networks, but I'm giving them a
tryand will report back.
The firm says its new name reflects both both itsGE heritage and itslook
to the future. KPO is built around a demand for business expertise, such
as legalservices, the analysis that supports a merger, formulating
patents, and writing equity, industry and product reports. One has to
remember that French, German,Dutch and Swiss education is also not
selective. In a wonderfully inappropriate start to the day, attentionwas
truly distracted by the fact that the victorious Englandcricket team
were staying in the same hotel.
In a side issue, my wife an I were discussing the futuredirection for
the education of our children. com that India'sITOand BPO firms are
going to implement a competence exam created byNasscom. Little wonder
the West is suffering from future shock. The internecine wars between
non-standard browsers vying formarket domination is an old story, but I
think we can learn fromit.
India should introduce the home agent culture and this would go along
way in containing attrition in the country's call centre andcustomer
service outsourcing sectors.
Amajority of them are women and they have set their own workinghours.
Many jobs are likely to belost. I was surprised to learn that it was
four ministers from the European Union. This seems to be the role of a
new Chinese operation calledblogoriented. That is why I think it is
important toset "the standard" in outsourcing, BPO and shared
serviceenvironments now. To globalization's skeptics, however, what's
good forCorporate America translates into layoffs and lower pay
forworkers. How will you keep up with today'sneeds if you lock workers
into producing for yesterday's needs?
com and the perceived state ofthe BPO market. I do not know any other
industry in any other country that wouldreact this quickly.
The ultimate goal for SOXis to have better-run corporations, with more
accurate and reliablereporting. Incidentally, I got thinking about this
after working yesterdayevening on getting this site compliant. Sourcing,
which includes both shared service operations andoutsourcing is maturing
but I do not believe that the MCA ishelping its members with this
slap-dash analysis. Rather than fighting the system, many internal
auditors now viewthe worry and work SOX has presented as proof that
there was a needfor stricter policies to be put in place. Employee churn
hurts not only the provider butalso their clients and that does no-one
in the industry anygood.

If Convergys can demonstrate that an end-to-end proposition ispossible
and profitable, I am certain that two things will happen. I was
surprised to learn that it was four ministers from the European Union.
I just think we need it.

It is nice to hear thatthe EU is getting the message.

No longer are brightchildren from deprived backgrounds encouraged
through selective"grammar" schools, but put through a "comprehensive"
system that isanything but.
I've been banging on howprotectionism doesn't work for some time. Andif
future investors think you might force them to produceloss-making lines
- well, there is a whole world they can taketheir money to instead. It's
interesting how the response to the surge in outsourcingin Europe echoes
the yesteryear American backlash.
"You cannot split out every single activity just because ofthe cost

It isproject-based work performed remotely through extensive use
ofglobal data-bases and sources such as regulatory bodies.
I met the Gecis boys at anSBPOAevent earlier this year.
Amajority of them are women and they have set their own workinghours.
That'slargely because I find it very difficult to get firm-level
datafrom the European companies for any of my research projects. Its
British business is profitable. The articles in Business Week seem to
supportthis. This is in reaction to criticism following
thewell-publicised selling of bank details to a British tabloidreporter.
I'm sure that we'll see in the next three years SOXcompliance not as a
burden for honest and efficient corporations, but as a positive
differentiator.
