If you still have the setup at your hand, please run

env VERBOSE=x \
TESTS='pr87.test pr220.test missing2.test missing.test java.test gcj4.test 
acloca17.test' \
make -e check

More detailed explanation is in file tests/README.

If have capacities to do even more, you could try the CVS version of
Automake.  But you would have to download and install the CVS version
of Autoconf first.  (And while you are at it, you can also run
make check in CVS Autoconf. ;-)
