Bonjour.  Thanks for your very rapid reply.  Since it is not a common
problem, I think the onus is on me, to do more work in trying to solve the
problem.

I am pretty it has something to do with whether or not I've named items in
EXTRA_DIST and other similar shell variables.  I am just starting to learn
automake, and I've not learned it properly yet.

I won't bother this list again, until I have pared my problem down to 
something short enough to reasonably ask for help on.
