Dear AUCTeX people,
The following stanza in the auctex manual is outdated:
User Option: TeX-DVI-via-PDFTeX
If this is set, DVI will also be produced by calling PDFTeX,
setting \pdfoutput=0. This makes it possible to use packages like
‘pdfcprot’ even when producing DVI files. Some modern TeX
distributions, e.g. teTeX 3.0, do this anyway, so that you need
not enable it within AUCTeX.
It should be replaced by something like
User Option: TeX-DVI-via-PDFTeX
If this is set, DVI will also be produced by calling PDFTeX,
setting \pdfoutput=0. This makes it possible to use packages like
‘microtype’ even when producing DVI files. Most modern TeX
distributions, e.g. TeXlive 2005 and newer, do this anyway, so
that you need not enable it within AUCTeX.
Yours,
Karsten
