Very old Emacs.

AUCTeX (and preview-latex) can't deal with file:line:error style
messages.

Configure them off for now.

METAFONT runs may confuse the parsing.  Rerunning preview-latex might
help.  Not that this is relevant here.

Now this is interesting.  I never ever considered using file:line:
error style messages since we would lose the character-exact context
in the file.  However, it appears like the context is all there, and
we only get _additional_ information.

We probably should teach AUCTeX and preview-latex how to parse this:
after all, it the information that is the least robust to get.

Copying to the developer list and directing followups there.

I am afraid that with the current version, all you can do is edit your
texmf.cnf file (or whatever equivalent your TeX system is using) and
disable file:line: style error messages.
