However, bino is not being started. I see nothing in the logfiles, but I
believe that this has to do with user rights because vdr and xbmc are
being started as user "vdr". Maybe, this is something more yaVDR
specific, so I am going to check it with the users at vdrportal.de where
yaVDR is being supported.

I've never test it on yaVDR, but if it similar to xbmc it should work.
Try set full path to bino.
Enter to prompt when you run movie, and check whever bino is running "ps ax|grep bino". What windowmaker is running your system? If any, I've noticed unstable work with xbmc.
