Thanks.  In fact, that solves the riddle, at least possibly:  it seems that I
am not allowed in mozilla and firefox to do a file:// redirect from a http:
page.  So, it seems we are out of luck?

Yes. But the syntax error happened while pasting into my mail window.  Sorry
about that.  It still won't work.  But I guess, I will be able to solve that
one. The other one is a show-stopper, though.
