No, I think what David meant was using the native Texmacs
Scheme encoding of the mathematics *instead* of LaTeX. That
way one potentially has access to some Texmacs features that
do not translate well into LaTeX.

The communication protocol itself is (should be?) a somewhat
different subject at a different level.
