Unfortunately Unix (BSD, Apple) and Linux are not the same thing.
I don't have access to either kind of system so I'm unable to work
on the porting issues (although someone just offered FreeBSD access). 

I believe that debian has a port of axiom that might run on
apple. Please check the debian site.

It is a long term plan to support these systems but, of course,
it will take work.

I m really a newbie in UNIX world. I interested in Axiom for
mathematical purposes. I have tried to build axiom from the CVS
distribution but i don t succeded. I have installed the X11 package
from Apple. The first problem i encounter was the SIGCLD/SIGCHLD
problem in the fnct_key.h file that i fix. But there are many more
problems... MacosX is build on Darwin, itself build on a BSD
distribution.
