I'll try the patch you sent, later today. I'm not familiar with the
source code, but I'll give it a try!

Fully agree. I saw the tilde being used down in the config file and
tried it for the parallel port programmer. When that didn't help, I
thought the tilde was reserved for another function, but I couldn't
find any docs about this.
