Except that you might recall that avrtest was adapted from the original core of 
simulavr. That's what made me wonder if it might work...

And avrtest is already being used to run the binutils and gcc regression test 
suites. If it can run the avr-libc test suite, then we would have only one 
program to run all test suites.
