It's not just your typing speed.  Under the covers HyperTerminal puts pauses
between characters in its default configuration.  Many applications that
work with HyperTerminal fall apart with a "real" terminal emulator or
host-side application.  I strongly suggest you toss HyperTerminal and get a
(free) copy of TeraTerm Pro.  HyperTerminal is garbage.
