Hi folks!
I wanted to compile automake-1.7 on a linux-i686 box (kernel 2.4.19)
What goes wrong here?
# whereis autoconf
autoconf: /opt/autoconf-2.57/bin/autoconf
# ./configure --prefix=/opt/automake-1.7 && make && make install
checking for a BSD-compatible install... /usr/bin/install -c
checking whether build environment is sane... yes
checking for gawk... gawk
checking whether make sets $(MAKE)... yes
checking for perl... /usr/bin/perl
checking for tex... no
configure: error: Autoconf 2.54 or better is required
- spurious configure failure for automake-1.7,
