As you prefer.  I defer to your judgement on this.

I do not remember actually...  Anyway, feel free to write a patch to fix the
issue if you want (that is, just write a warning message if git is missing,
but do not error out); there's not point in submitting our only Windows
tester (i.e., you :-) to extra annoyances.
