    I do with we had some testsuite exposure for gnupload though, this has
    grown so complicated that bugs are likely.  Is there test upload space
    on some of these hosts?

Sergey's new "upload to a directory" functionality is probably the best
way to do tests.  That's essentially what I did when I was playing with
the script.

Perhaps the most practical place to do full network testing, where there
is control over the server side too without having to involve the
overworked FSF sysadmins, is via Sergey's hosting server.

What I have done myself in the meantime is just try test uploads on
alpha and then --delete the test files ...
