I understand your point, but I really regret we reject this instead of
finding all the impacts and trying to circumvent them.  I might be
wrong, but I think the general idea, rewriting/extracting from itself,
is useful and could have other applications.

It was a good test bed for this scheme.

I understand your point, and I'm sensitive to your intuition.  If you
think it will break, let's remove it.  Please, do.
