I've noticed a small copy&paste error in your patch:
Jim> address@hidden AC_C_RESTRICT
Jim> address@hidden C_RESTRICT
Jim> address@hidden volatile
^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^^
This obviously comes the next entry in the manual :)
Also I think you should mention this new macro in NEWS.
