I'd say "not". It'd be more hassle than it's worth, including the hassle of "rewriting history", which means we'd need some sort of version numbering scheme for the old manuals and that would cause further user confusion.
If this continues to be a problem we could stop publishing the old manuals and publish only the latest release. Not only would this lessen our maintenance burden, it would also help prevent people finding the old manuals by mistake via Google searches. A bit drastic tho.
