Follow-up Comment #1:

The Autoconf Archive used to distribute those macros for several years.
However, Bradon insists on distributing those macros himself, in his own
separate repository. He refuses to support the Autoconf Archive in any way. In
particular, he refuses to keep us in the loop about updates, bug fixes, or any
other changes to his code. That resulted in a situation where the macros at
gnu.org had become out of sync with the ones he publishes, and we were getting
bug reports from people who ran into problems that had been fixed in Bradon's
repository a long time ago. In response to that situation, we deleted the
macros from the Archive in commit 732c413b44ae9404399174f0277183e283393ca6
