That was just a joke above.  It has obviously been my fault. :-)

No, then we'd have to mirror the repository on github which I think is
not the right platform for GNU software given that it is proprietary and
closed.  However, the GNU ELPA versions XX.YY.Z with Z >= 1 are
essentially development snapshots where is Git HEAD is at most a few
weeks ahead.

In the concrete case, the hook has been in one or two ELPA versions but
I added the "refresh emacs pdf viewer" function just recently, so the
hook got no real attention before the release.  I guess you wouldn't
have noticed even if you followed the Git version (unless you read the
git log).

But of course, that shouldn't stop you from using and testing the git
version if you are comfortable doing so.  It's usually very stable and
we try to be as responsive as possible, especially with respect to
regressions.
