Which syntax do you give to the colon : ?

In LaTeX3 it is (afaik) often used in macro names, but in real life
for end users it will be more often found like \this: <- was a typographical
colon. This is less of an issue for the _.

Or the enlarged font-lock for macro highlighting will necessitate
some toggle: (latex3-syntax-on) ?

In a (non LaTeX3) tex package of mine I use systematically _, :, but
also ? and ! as letters in inner (user-hidden) macros. Will there be
an interface for adding such things ?

In dtx files, that should be dependent on whether one is in the
\begin{macrocode}...\end{macrocode}.
