dunno about psfrag, but i use two pstricks packages (and sometimes pstricks
itself) for some stuff, and i never have trouble viewing their output in
xdvik. perhaps what i use is not the most sophisticated pstricks stuff, but
under certain circumstances, it may not even be necessary to generate a ps
file just to view the document.
