#<carbon-frame ...

looks suspiciously like a Carbon-only data structure.  It could be
difficult to debug that for different XEmacs versions.  It could be
that we are doing something that only works by accident on other
platforms (I sometimes have the impression all our XEmacs-specific
code works more by accident than design).
