Hi,Here are two more cases in which it is only possible to force to use the dollar sign $ in an embedded math environment by C-q $:
This are: \framebox \minipage Examples: \begin{equation} \label{eq:2.28} \framebox{$\displaystyle -\frac{\partial}{\partial x_i}\biggl(\hat q_{ik} quad\text{in $\Omega$.}$} \end{equation} \begin{equation} \label{eq:2.1} \left.\begin{minipage}{0.75\linewidth} \begin{enumerate} \item $T$ is a smooth open set with a $C^2$ boundary. \end{enumerate} \end{minipage}\right\} \end{equation} (AucTeX-Snapshot 2005-08-06) Best regards Harald
