[AUCTeX-devel] the evil {math} env and invisible sub superindices

Hi

Look at the following example.
\documentclass[12pt]{article}

\begin{document}

\begin{math}
  \int_a
\end{math}
\(
\int_a
\)


\end{document}

I see the sub and subindices invisible in the \( construction but not in
the math env

Can somebody confirm that
