I post this here in part to keep folks updated and in part to remind
myself of what is going on. I suppose I will copy and paste this to the
Dev Diary once it is operational once more.
I certainly have a wide range of possible tasks ahead of me, including
unrelated projects like finding a full time job now that I have graduated.
But that is outside the scope of the Adonthell project, so I shall leave
it alone.
I am slowly getting into the actual engine development process, as well as
continuing to work on the plot. A sudden, if minor, addition to the plot
was recently made. I am personally pleased with this addition, as it is
rather interesting and involves references to Beowulf. The new character
will be something of challenge to portray. For this, I need to compile and
run the dialog editor which Kai has written. I also need to begin
building items, so I will have to read the existing item code and the
APIs, then decide how best to create them - whether with flat text
descriptions, Python code, or something else.
My current todo list looks rather like this:
Compile, link, run dlgedit
Learn to use dlgedit
Write preliminary dialog for certain DB characters
Read API docs for v0.3
Get up to date on item engine stuff:
example: item editor/generator needed?
method for storing raw item data, prior to instantation in game?
Begin creating more items
