The Ether allows communication between different characters, both player and computer controlled.

* multiple types of communication possible (magic, speech, etc)
* broadcast or point-to-point (individual or group) communication
* limited or unlimited range
* can be used to coordinate attack of multiple creatures in combat
* can be used for NPCs uttering words
* can be used for chatting in multiplayer environment
* reception of messages is dependend on individual characters
  (spell effects may hinder reception temporarily, etc.)
