P.S. In case you're wondering about the OS X status: the problem I have 
is that the SDL_QuartzWindow instance SDL uses internally gets freed 
twice, causing a crash when quitting the app. I do not know why that is 
happening with my version of OS X initialization, but not with the 
original SDL one. I might make a post to the SDL mailing list, but I am 
not sure whether they can help. Anyway, at first I'll have to do some 
more debugging ...
