These are only the rules. I did not include Experience and level advancement (Because these two topics are really hot). I think we might want to implement theae first, test them and if we like them we candecide how to do advancement, training XP... Checks: (Each skillsystem is build on checks, so I guess it is the same here) A check is always a random number between 2-12 (2d6) to which modifiers are added. If the result beats the difficulty of the task at hand it is a success, otherwise it is a failure. I think variable skill checks (where dice are rolled) are sufficient, no fixed ones any more. Skills: There are 4 kinds of skills: 1 Non Combat Skills: These are skills like ride, open locks or pickpockets. One dice (d6) is rolled for each rank you have in this skill then modifies are added. () Ranks are 0-5. (BTW forget about the routine checks I had in my test, they were not that great at all..) Dancing Drinking ... 2 Combat Skills: These are used to wage war! Melee (How good you can hit someone withe in closed combat) Ranged (How good you can hit someone with ranged weapons ) Defense (How hard it is to hit you) Focus (focus to be succcessful with spells ect) Willpower (use this against spells ect) Life (Weapons deal damage that is substracted here) Mana (Spells and other racial skills use up Mana) In this category a check is a random number between 2-12 (2d6) to which a bonus is added. If the result beats the difficulty of the task at hand it is a success, otherwise it is a failure. Examples: Melee + bonus (eg from spells items ect.) >= Defense of Victim (+ Bonus) = Hit Then damage (e.g sword 1-9) is substracted from Victims life Focus + bonus >= Willpower of Victim (+ bonus) = Victim is charmed for 15 seconds 3 Racial: These are the skills that are unique to a race. these do include item creation and spells as well... (These are harder to think of we will add them later) 4 Special Skills: There are no ranks in these skills. Instead if you know them you can do special stuff (e.g mapmaking, which enables an automap (hey, we don't have to do this, but there is no other example I could think of)). Resistances Blessings ...
