Summary:  trouble with new avrisp

Original Submission:  
I'm an avr newbie (but with experience in PIC) and am
having startup troubles.

1. Can't get my avrisp to work. I suspect it is due to it
   having new firmware ( v. 1.15 ). See attached file,
   which also shows me getting nowhere with avrdude.

2. can't get borrowed parallel programmer to work -- a new
   product.  It's the one made by www.ere.co.th and sold
   by futurlec with ere's "ATMega Control Board".
