now I'm getting differences that seem dependent on the version
of latex2html I am using.
This is a total aside, but FWIW, I have the impression that latex2html
has been essentially unmaintained for years. At least the original
distribution, I don't know what distros have done with it.
tex4ht, on the other hand, continues to be (incredibly) actively
maintained by its original author, Eitan Gurari.
