Peter
Thank you for your prompt reply. You are quite correct on all accounts,
we taught a small course last year to the FDTL it was a little
challenging. We had a Philipino who spoke Tetum and a couple of basic
Bahasa speakers and we managed. The Australians have a good program
established, but all of there people are engaged. I am looking for a
couple people, if not more, who are smart and versitile translators for
upwards of six weeks, good money. The UN people are also engaged I
believe, but if you have any contacts that we can follow up on I would
be very pleased to do so. Sorry that I do not need your direct services,
but am willing to spread your company's name.

Thanks, Matt Schweers

Hi Mathew,
I guess the name of our project is a little vague :)
(apologies)

I will see if I can find you somebody, but essentially we are about
translating computer work environments into Tetum..

I know the Australian Defence Force has a large effort in translations
(especially in Tetum and some of the other local dialects/ languages)

Would you like me to try to track some contacts down .. or perhaps this
is better done through "channels?".

Meantime I will pass this on to the rest of our project maybe somebody
will know..

If all else fails i can get you some UN contacts .. and some public
service type guys to help (In Dili at least)..

What level of translation do you require..
e.g. street level, bureaucratic.. Just so you know Bahasa (Indonesia)
and (european) Portuguese are also widely spoken .. (port. less so).

Sorry it's late.. not making much sense ..

Good luck cob.

Peter Gossner
