Why do you already have dark text already embedded in bkg.swf??

You overlaying alpha_text.swf over the existing text and thus you can see
it.  Try this to see what I mean,

  swfcombine -T -y 10 -o combi.swf bkg.swf text_alpha.swf

I'd say it would be far easier to create your overlay text with swfc, then
layer it over rather than have to combine swfs in this way.
