In that case, you need to use the newest version of swftools- 0.6.1 didn't yet contain the fix for the new freetype header files. You can either check out the CVS version, or use the development build at http://www.quiss.org/swftools/swftools-dev.tar.gz .anyhow... the error is occuring in ttf2pt1 it's invoked by pdf2swf so I think having an old version should really be ok.The new version doesn't use ttf2pt1 anymore, but relies on freetype, which works much better. The old versions always had problems when dealing with TTF fonts.
